My Journey with Obedience Training and Dogs
I’m Jesse, a lifelong dog enthusiast with a deep passion for helping people form stronger, more fulfilling relationships with their canine companions.
How I Met Princess and Started Obedience Training
My journey in dog ownership began unexpectedly in the summer of 1989 while I was enjoying the serene North Dakota countryside. It was then that I found a beautiful black Labrador Retriever roaming without a collar.
Unsure of where she came from, I took her back to town, hoping to find her owner. However, with the possibility of euthanasia looming if no one claimed her, I made it very clear—I would take her in and give her a loving home.
Princess's Special Surprise and the Start of Training
As it turned out, Princess (as I later named her) was not only lost, but she was also pregnant! In time, she gave birth to eight healthy pups. Naturally, I found good homes for all of them. Black Labs are beloved in North Dakota, not only as wonderful pets but also as dependable hunting dogs.
The Bond Strengthened Through Obedience Training
From that day forward, Princess became my best friend and constant companion. Together, we faced the typical challenges of dog ownership, especially when it came to obedience training. Through trial and error, I learned how to communicate with her and nurture an unbreakable bond. My time with Princess taught me valuable training skills, which I now use to help others with their dogs.
The Inspiration Behind ObedienceTrainingforDogs.com
Sadly, I lost Princess to canine leukemia on March 15, 1999. Even though she is gone, her memory continues to inspire me every day. Consequently, this inspiration led to the creation of ObedienceTrainingforDogs.com. My mission is to share my passion for obedience training and help fellow dog owners build the same deep connection I had with Princess.
